SYCHROV CHATEAU

Open all year round, the ever-popular Sychrov Chateau boasts some lavish interiors, which can be admired on several tour circuits. The chateau also includes a large English-style park with exotic trees and an orangery, which now houses a stylish café.

During the 17th century the estates were owned by Duke Albrecht von Wallenstein, who acquired them together with the fortress, then a ruin. After Albrecht's assassination in Cheb, Sychrov was confiscated along with the Wallensteins' other property and was bought by the Lamotts of Frintrop in 1669.

The chateau was at the height of its prosperity and glory when it was owned by the French noble House of Rohan (from 1820), who converted the building in the neo-Gothic style we see today.

The chateau regularly hosts a number of popular events such as concerts and theatre. Several films and fairy tales have also been shot in the grounds.
