LEMBERK CHATEAU

Originally a Gothic castle, it was built in the 13th by Havel of Lemberk, husband of St. Zdislava. In the mid-16th century it was converted into a Renaissance chateau and later altered to the early Baroque style we see today. From 1726 it was owned by the Gallases, and later the Clam-Gallases, who held it until 1945.

Visitors can admire the unique Baroque stucco decor, Zdislava's original living chamber, the Knight's Hall, the black kitchen and the unforgettable Hall of Myths with its coffered ceiling dating from 1610.

After 1620 the estate was acquired by Albrecht von Wallenstein, who owned it until his violent death in 1634, when it passed to Jan Rudolf Breda.
