3. Kepler´s horoscope
During his stay in Prague in 1608, Albrecht von Wallenstein had his horoscope drawn up by the court astrologer Jan (Johannes) Kepler.
JAN KEPLER
Astronomer and mathematician Jan Kepler (1571 - 1630) worked for Emperor Rudolf II. For financial reasons, and despite his considerable scepticism about astrology, he earned a living by compiling horoscopes. Through an intermediary, he received a request from Wallenstein for a horoscope, Wallenstein's name and his date of birth.
WALDSTEIN'S HOROSCOPE
This horoscope also included a ruthless characterization of Wallenstein's personality. Kepler characterised Wallenstein as an intelligent personality with pronounced anti-social tendencies and a dislike of all that is mundane and conventional. He thus captured his desire for exceptionalism and his almost morbid ambition, predation and suspicion of his surroundings. Nor did he omit his reclusive personality, his avarice and cruelty. He predicted a rich marriage for Wallenstein at the age of 33 (here he was wrong), but also high rank and wealth. The original horoscope was conceived until 1625. After that year, Wallenstein again contacted Kepler and asked for another horoscope. Kepler obliged him and predicted significant disagreements with his surroundings and a critical period in the future duke's conduct and behaviour in early 1634.
